Peter Duck tells his yarn of how he saw treasure being buried in his youth, and before long
is guiding the Swallows and Amazons to the island where it was buried. However, Black Jake is
hot on their trail, and will stop at nothing to beat them to the treasure.
Review :
This story is an excellent tale of sailing, adventure and treasure. The story begins in a way
which could have ended with the Swallows and Amazons sailing around the English coast. Charming
as some of the books in that mold of story in this series are, this story ends up much more
exciting. Peter Duck is a nice character, and the spinning of his yarn is very appropriate.
The only thing that really bothers me as far as believability goes is the way in which they go
off after the treasure almost on a whim. But the story is such good fun that it barely detracts
from this story. It also gains another aspect if you know a bit about sailing. This remains one
of my favourite books in this series.
